CHROMEYES
Chromeyes (pronounced as Chro-mis) Lens is a contact lens manufacturer based in Singapore. Chromeyes started off as a lens company in Singapore in the 1980s and expanded rapidly. By the 1990s, Chromeyes was selling its lenses beyond Singapore and in Asia as well.
Seeing the potential of the contact lens industry and in a bid to expand its business, Chromeyes decided to acquire the technology to produce contact lens. The research and exploration process took the company 3 years before they started producing their own brand of contact lens. As a result, Days, a disposabe daily wear contact lens was introduced to the Singapore market, and subsequently, the Asian market shortly after. Today, the company has 2 other brands of lenses, Clearis and Mystik, both of which are monthly lens. These contact lens are sold in 38 countries throughout Asia.
Chromeyes’ breakthrough product is Lensus, a brand of contact lens that is exclusively made and distributed by Chromeyes. Lensus is a photochromic contact lens, and is an improved version of the initial development made by the Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechonology (IBN). Shortly after the initial development by IBN, Chromeyes adopted the technology and rights to produce and modify the photochromic contact lens. It was only until 2013 that the company successfully created an improved version of the photochromic contact lens. This allowed the production of the first commercial piece of the contact lens which carries the brand name, Lensus. It is said to be the world’s first photochromic contact lens.
